Schuylkill Township has good financial report, remains in budget

The midyear check on Schuylkill County’s finances is a good one.

Last week, Supervisor Gary Feathers read a statement from the township’s treasurer, Dana Brubaker.

“As of the end of June, the township’s current year financial position remains stable, with consistent revenue streams and controllable expenditures in line with our approved budget,” Brubaker wrote.

Real estate tax collections are 96% ahead of projected annual revenue.

Earned income tax receipts are trending ahead of projections, with a year-to-date total of $78,974, and approximately 50% of the budgeted solid waste fees have been collected.

Brubaker also said general operating expenses are within budget at 46% year-to-date.

Being “within budget” signals that spending isn’t exceeding what was allocated.

There are no notable expenditures or capital projects recorded thus far in 2025.

Brubaker said while the township’s year-to-date revenues exceed expenditures, the township is relying on prior-year cash reserves to fully balance the current year’s budget.

She recommended some of the funds be allocated for operational use, and some for capital expenses.
