Towamensing Township supervisors acted on or discussed the following items during their monthly meeting recently.

• Anna Shigo from Carbon County Planning and Development spoke about Open Space grants for woods, waterfalls and animal habitats. Dawn Getz from Wildlands Conservancy shared that they will have grants for the projects.

• Penny Merkel was hired as an administrative clerk starting on July 9.

• The board thanked Ricky Getz for building a pier for the dry hydrant at the Pine Run boat launch.

• There was discussion about Lakeside Development Self Storage about rain runoff and assuring the contractor correctly does a holding area. A time extension was approved until Aug. 13.

• Approved the Carbon County Lions Lioness request for fire police for the Carbon County Fair Aug. 4 to 9.
