Tamaqua Seniors

The Tamaqua Senior Citizens met on July 10 with 26 members present.

President Jean Machamer opened the meeting. The invocation, “My Daily Prayer,” was read. One member was added to the sick list. Two members are celebrating July birthdays and two members were welcomed back.

The group meets at 1 p.m. Thursdays at the Coaldale Complex. Anyone 55 and older is welcome.

Lewistown Garden Club

The Lewistown Valley Garden Club will celebrate its annual family picnic beginning at noon July 22 at a member’s home as planned. In lieu of a meeting, games will be played. Members are reminded to bring a prize for the games, and those with last names A through H are to bring desserts and I through Z a main course dish.

Members are also reminded that floral entries for the Schuylkill County Fair must be at the fairgrounds before opening day.

Calvary Lewistown

The 11 a.m. Sunday service of Calvary Evangelical Church will have a message from Pastor Debra Rogers, along with a video presentation of all the fun that was had during the recent Vacation Bible School. Attendees will see what the children were doing and why they had such a good time.

Sunday school for all ages is at 9:45 a.m. All summer services are held at the Lewistown Valley Tabernacle, 614 Valley Road, Tamaqua.

The Sunday evening small group with music and Bible study meets at 6:30 p.m., and the Wednesday evening prayer group meets at 7 p.m. Attendees should bring their praise and prayer request to share.

Zion Lewistown

Pastor Jim Williams will officiate the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service at Zion Church in Lewistown Valley. Adult Sunday school is at 9:30 a.m.

St. Peter’s - West Penn

There will be an outdoor service at 10 a.m. Sunday at St. Peter’s Church in West Penn if weather permits. A vacation Bible School closing luncheon will also be held.

The 10 a.m. July 27 service will be held at West Penn Park, and a pot luck picnic will follow. Barbecue, hot dogs and drinks will be provided.
