Baer earns another 602 Modified win at MVS

Nick Baer remained unbeatable in the 602 Modified division at Mahoning Valley Speedway, holding strong from the pole despite an early incident with Jacob Kerstetter before the green flag.

The New Tripoli native led all 30 laps en route to his second victory of the season. Randy Ahner finished second, followed by Jacob Pfeifer in third, Austin Kohler in fourth, and Kerstetter rounding out the top five.

Ahner’s night wasn’t done, as he also led every lap of a caution-free Street Stock feature after passing Cody Boehm early. Frankie Althouse and TJ Gursky, both starting from the third row, battled for second throughout the race. Young standout Adam Steigerwalt followed closely, with Jon Moser completing the top five.

In the Hobby Stock feature, Shayne Geist and Travis Soloman went door-to-door for the lead until a spin on lap 23 sent both to the rear. That opened the door for Tamaqua’s Ryan Petro, who restarted from the pole and held off Shawn Hoffman to take the checkered flag. James Tout placed third, followed by Zachary Henry in fourth and Wambold in fifth.

Cody Kohler scored his first Pro 4 feature win of the season after a strong move from third to take the lead from Rob Derfler. He held off Bob and Bobby Kibler, who battled behind him along with Jake Kibler and Tyler Poole. A red flag on lap 14 paused action after a crash involving Kadie Pursell and Tyler Stangle sent both drivers into the wall. Kohler maintained control after the restart and crossed the line first.

Tyler Wagner of Rockaway, New York, took the lead in the TQ Midget feature from the front row and never looked back, earning the 20-lap win. Jasper Ziegafuse placed second, and Patterson finished third.

In the season debut of the Microstocks, Kyle Costick was the class of the field. Starting from the pole, Costick won both his heat and the feature. Tom Ervin finished second, and Peter Soldano claimed third.

The Stage 1 Modified feature closed out the evening with a 20-lap thriller. Dylan Hoch turned in a commanding performance to earn the victory. Jaden Brown took second, and Tyler Hoch completed the podium.
