Supper tonight
Zion Lutheran Church, Brodheadsville, is hosting its free monthly community drive-thru dinner from 5-6 p.m.
In honor of National Hot Dog Day, the church will be serving hot dogs, macaroni salad, baked beans, watermelon, chips, dessert and a water bottle.
Altar & Rosary
The Altar & Rosary Society at Our Lady Queen or Peace Church, Brodheadsville, invites all women of the parish to attend the meeting at 6 p.m. tonight in the cafe to learn what the group is focusing on: the recital of the rosary; fundraising to support the needs of the altar and ministries in the parish family and community; and enriching society members’ spiritual journeys.
Legion committees
American Legion Post 927 in Gilbert will hold its Building Committee meeting from 6-7 p.m. tonight. The Scout Troop 102 Committee meeting follows from 7-8 p.m.
QV art sale
Quiet Valley, Monroe County’s Living Historical Farm, is holding its reception, viewing and art sale from the Plein Air on the Farm program on Saturday from noon-4 p.m.

Grief support
A monthly bereavement support meeting for those who are grieving is held at the Western Pocono Community Library in Brodheadsville.
This month’s will be from 1-2:30 p.m. July 23. There will be no meeting in August.

Polk Township Volunteer Fire Company is having a chicken barbecue dinner on Sunday from 2-4 p.m.
Garden of Giving
Youth events at the Garden of Giving off Route 715 in Saylorsburg are open to the public for those ages 8-plus and their adults. Learn essential skills like planting, harvesting and trellising while participating in garden-themed activities from 9:30 a.m.-noon July 26 and Aug. 21. There is a small cost per child. Supplies are included.

American Legion Post 927 in Gilbert holds a cleanup day at the post home from 9 a.m.-noon Saturday.
Pray the rosary
Our Lady Queen of Peace Church invites all to join the church in praying the rosary every Saturday at 4:20 p.m. before the 5 p.m. Mass and Sunday at 7:20 a.m. before the 8 a.m. Mass.
Senior meals
Not only can local seniors join the Chestnuthill Seniors group, which meets at Zion Lutheran Church in Brodheadsville from 9 a.m.-2 p.m., Wednesdays and Fridays, but they can also eat at the Monroe Campus of St. Luke’s University Health Network in Stroudsburg, at 100 St. Luke’s Lane, from 4-6 p.m. seven days a week for a small fee.
VBS at Effort UMC
Vacation Bible School is being held at Effort UMC from July 21 through July 25. The theme is “Egypt — Joseph’s Journey from Prison to Palace.” It will be held from 9 a.m.-noon.

Our Lady Queen of Peace Church will host its senior luncheon on Monday after the 12:10 Mass.
Bingo night
On Monday, American Legion Post 927, Gilbert, hosts bingo night, beginning at 6:30 p.m. It is open to the public. Playing begins at 7 p.m.
There will be game specials, and food and drinks available for purchase.
SFRC open
Effort UMC’s Supplemental Food Resource Center Food Pantry will be open from 10 a.m.-noon July 26.
Special bingo
St. Matthew’s EC Laymen’s Fellowship is hosting a Cash and Gift Card Bingo at the church in Kunkletown on July 27. Doors open noon. Bingo begins at 1 p.m. It will include door prizes as well as food and drinks available for sale by Laymen’s Fellowship. Proceeds support repairs and updates to the Church and picnic grove.
Polk meeting
The Polk Township Board of Supervisors will hold its next meeting at 6:30 p.m. July 28.
Pig roast
A pig roast benefiting Austin’s Blue Line (an organization focused on suicide awareness and prevention) will be held from 2-5 p.m. Aug. 9 at the American Legion Post in Gilbert.
Free lunch pickup
The Free Summer Lunch Program has returned to the Pleasant Valley Ecumenical Network in Sciota, and will continue through Aug. 14 from 8-10 a.m.
Families will receive five days’ worth of shelf-stable lunches for each child up to 18 years of age. Young people over 18 who are enrolled in school programs for those with disabilities are also eligible.
There are no residency or income requirements.

Pavilion concert
Effort UMC has announced its concert in the pavilion coming on Aug. 9 with The Kings of Queen Street.
A light fare dinner will be served at 5:30 p.m., with the concert commencing at 6 p.m. There will be a free will offering for the band. Attendees are to bring lawn chairs.
Dog training
The Chestnuthill Township Parks & Recreation Department is hosting a free dog training session from 11 a.m.-to 1 p.m. Aug. 16, by David with University of Pets, at the West End Regional Park on Merwine Hilltop Road.

Counting turkeys
Rep. Jack Rader announces the Pennsylvania Wild Turkey Sighting Survey open through Aug. 31.
Participation is important for turkey population management.
Survey data allows the agency to determine total wild turkey productivity and compare long-term reproductive success within Pennsylvania and across states.
Data also are used in the turkey population model to track population trends.
