Lansford teen charged in shooting
A Lansford teen faces criminal charges after he was involved in a shooting in Allentown over the weekend.
According to a news release by Lehigh County District Attorney Gavin P. Holihan, the male, who will not be identified due to his age, is one of two juveniles charged in the shooting that left another juvenile in critical but stable condition.
The incident happened just before 2 a.m. on Sunday. Allentown police received a call for a shooting on the 100 block of Pine Street.
When officers arrived they found a female with a gunshot wound to her face.
Witnesses reported that several juveniles were hanging out in a bedroom when the boy from Lansford showed that he had a .380-caliber handgun in his fanny pack.
Police said the juveniles asked to see the gun so he removed it from the fanny pack, racked the slide and dropped the magazine out of the gun. He also told his friends that there was no round in the chamber.
The girl he handed it to pointed the gun around the room and pulled trigger. A bullet in the chamber then struck the victim in the face.
Most of the teens fled, including the boy who had brought the gun. He threatened the girl who shot the other girl, telling her not to speak with police or she would be beaten.
One of the teens called 911 and rendered aid to the victim until police arrived.
The Lansford teen is charged with intimidation of witnesses or victims, firearms not to be carried without a license, possession of a firearm by a minor, tampering with or fabricating physical evidence and five counts recklessly endangering another person.
