Dedication ceremonies were held Saturday to introduce a state-of-the-art ambulance to residents of Lansford.

The ceremony of the Lansford Volunteer Ambulance Corps officially marked the beginning of use for the 1991 emergency vehicle.

The new rig, No. 1562, is a Type II van with a $50,000 price tag, having been purchased from Micro Fire Apparatus, Allentown.

David Szumigraj, president of the corps, said the ambulance is equipped to properly accommodate the paramedics from the Medic 10 unit an d has all of the equipment necessary to save lives and provide the best care for people of the community.

It replaces the old van-type ambulance that had been used by the corps members.
