3rd annual Bowmanstown Block Party set for Saturday

The third annual Bowmanstown Block Party will be held from 1-9 p.m. Saturday on and around the Bowmanstown Volunteer Fire Company grounds.

Admission is free, and all are welcome to attend, according to event co-chair Rodney Reeser, a trustee with the fire company who also serves as vice president of Bowmanstown Area Residents Connected.

Sponsored by the Bowmanstown Volunteer Fire Company, Bowmanstown/Parryville Lions Club and Bowmanstown Area Residents Connected, the event has something for everyone, according to Reeser.

He said activities will include a basket raffle, bingo, bands, cornhole tournament, kids activities, food and craft vendors.

Reeser said bands that will perform are Troubled Wine at 1 p.m., Big Bone Daddy at 3:30 p.m. and Mixed Bagg at 6:30 p.m.

He said food vendors will include Grumpy’s BBQ, Phil’s French Fries, St. John’s Church, Bowmanstown/Parryville Lions Club and Woods Ice Cream.

Reeser said craft vendors signed up are Sweets for your Honey, Angie’s Art and C&C Whimsical.

He said children’s activities will consist of tie dye T-shirts at 2 p.m., and encouraged to bring your own shirt, as they will have a limited supply of children’s sizes for purchase; a story time with the Palmerton Area Library, beginning at 3 p.m. with free freeze pops for the children; and kids games starting at 4 p.m., with free popcorn, one hot dog and one ice tea for each child while supplies lasts.

“We are hoping to provide an entertaining day for the community, and hoping to raise funds for the three nonprofit groups organizing this event,” Reeser said.
