No one was injured following a water rescue late Sunday night at Beltzville State Park.

Towamensing Township fire Chief Cole George said firefighters responded to Pine Run Boat Launch at 11:03 p.m.

George said the people already had the boat out of the water,

“It seemed like gas was leaking and when they went to start the boat, it caught fire,” George said. “They used a fire extinguisher on it.

“It was out when we got there. We just disconnected all the gas and kept as much gas out of the lake as possible.”

George said there were no injuries.

Firefighters remained on scene for about 45 minutes.

George said also assisting at the scene was the Franklin Township Fire Company. Lehighton Fire Department was dispatched but didn’t respond because they weren’t needed at the scene.

He said he was not sure what caused it.
