Calvary Lewistown

This week is a transition for the congregation of Calvary Evangelical Church in Lewistown. Summer activities and services will be held beginning Sunday at the Lewistown Valley Tabernacle, 614 Valley Road, Tamaqua.

Sunday will also mark a new time for services, with Sunday school at 9:45 a.m. followed by morning worship at 11 a.m. The Sunday evening service time of 6:30 p.m. will not change. The Wednesday prayer group will be at 7 p.m. each week.

New Pastor Debra Rogers will be bring the message of “Let Freedom Ring” at the Sunday service. There will be a patriotic theme to the music of the morning.

All are invited to enjoy the worship as Rogers is welcomed to the hilltop of Lewistown Valley Tabernacle for worship.

There will be no evening service on Sunday for the Fourth of July weekend celebrations.

Free diapers

Diaper Depot, the free diaper ministry at Zion Lutheran Church in Tamaqua, is accepting new clients for its July 19 free diaper distribution.

Clients must live in the Tamaqua Area School District.

Diapers are for children ages newborn to 4 years, sizes NB to 3T-4T. Diapers are distributed by appointment July 19.

Requests can be filed at www.ziontamaqua.com/diaper-depot/.

Appointments are assigned when requests are processed. Request deadline is July 16.

Andreas VFW

The Andreas VFW will meet at 7 p.m. July 9 at the West Penn annex.

St. Peter’s West Penn

The Sunday worship service at St. Peter’s Church in West Penn will be held at 9 a.m. with the Sacrament of Holy Communion. Adult Sunday school is at 10:15 a.m.

Luncheon

A “School Days” luncheon will be held beginning at 11:30 a.m. July 15 at Grace Evangelical Free Church, 10 Hollenbush Lane, Orwigsburg. The event is sponsored by the Schuylkill Women’s Connection.

Ella Furlong of Skillman, New Jersey, will speak on “Take Time to Laugh” and offer tips on how to lift your spirit when life drags you down. Music will be provided by Mya Zimmerman of Pine Grove. For a special feature, Jennifer Matz of Port Carbon will share take outs from school.

Zion Lewistown

Pastor Jim Williams will officiate the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service at Zion Church in Lewistown Valley. Adult Sunday school meets at 9:30 a.m.

Vacation Bible School will be held next week at the Lewistown Valley Tabernacle.
