A huge game from Palmerton graduate Cole Serfass helped the Berlinsville Braves roll to a win in Blue Mountain League action Wednesday.

Cole Serfass crushed a grand slam as part of a five-RBI day, and Dusty Shaver tossed five shutout innings to lead the Berlinsville Braves to a 14-0 win over the Avengers.

Serfass went 2-for-3 with a walk and scored three times in the five-inning victory. He launched his grand slam in the second inning, followed immediately by an Austin Mueller solo shot to cap back-to-back homers. Mueller finished 4-for-4 with four RBIs.

Luke Russo scored four runs, Tyee Irving added two hits and three RBIs, and Sam Erschen had two hits and two runs scored.

Shaver scattered five hits, struck out two and walked one to earn the win.

Franklin Township’s five-game winning streak came to an end with a 9-5 loss to South Parkland, as eight defensive errors proved costly.

Timothy Bowser led all hitters with two singles, a double, three runs scored and two RBIs for South Parkland.

Aiden McCarroll paced Franklin Township with a single, a walk, three runs scored and an RBI. Landan Steigerwalt added a triple, a walk and scored twice.

Despite a six-run first inning and 16 stolen bases, Jim Thorpe couldn’t keep pace with Southern Lehigh Grey in a 23-13 setback.

Bryce McElmoyle led the Olympians with two singles, three runs scored and three RBIs. Dominic Calcano and Lucas Knopf each stole three bases, while McElmoyle, Blake Skrimcovsky and Marshall Domski each swiped two.

Calcano added two singles and two runs scored, and Knopf chipped in with two hits, two runs and two RBIs.

Northern Lehigh fell to Nazareth 4-2 in Lehigh Valley Senior Connie Mack play, continuing a streak of alternating wins and losses in their last four games.

Jayden Christman had a single, an RBI and a walk to lead Northern Lehigh. Kellen Brinich added a single and an RBI.

Blue Mtn.-West Penn R&G

Blue Mountain struck for nine runs in the first inning and defeated West Penn R&G 13-0 at Dutch Hill in Tamaqua in Schuylkill Senior Teener League play.

Despite the early deficit, Jayden Rex delivered a strong effort in relief for West Penn. The right-hander worked 4 2/3 innings, allowing just two earned runs on seven hits while striking out five and walking two.

Paxton Carter and Gavin Shannon (double) each had a hit for West Penn, which will look to bounce back in its next matchup Thursday at Branch Township.

Blue Mountain collected 10 hits and drew nine walks in the win. Lucas Pritiskutch had two hits and two RBIs, while Connor Roeder earned the victory on the mound with four shutout innings and eight strikeouts.

Northern Vy.-Whitehall-Coplay

Parker Schaffer drove in three runs to help lift Northern Valley to a 7-2 victory over Whitehall-Coplay in recent Lehigh Valley Legion action.

Schaffer finished 2-for-3 at the plate with two singles, a walk and three RBIs. Nick Buskirk added two singles and scored a run for the Chargers.

Connor Simms went the distance on the mound, striking out nine while allowing one earned run on four hits and one walk.
