Sunday worship with Holy Communion at Trinity Lutheran Church, 175 S. Third St., Lehighton begins at 9:30 a.m. Kathy Long, Licensed Lay Minister, presides. Please note there is no first Saturday worship this weekend.

Church initiatives:

The Food Pantry is open from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Tuesdays (and third Tuesday from 5:30-7 p.m.) with an outdoor drive-up setting. Residents who reside in the Lehighton Area School District are eligible to receive supplemental food. Participants must remain in their vehicle at time of pickup. Pantry volunteers will assist pedestrians/those not in vehicles.

The Trinity Thrift Store will be closed Saturday. Regular hours are 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Wednesdays; and 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursdays and Saturdays. Household goods and clothing donations will be accepted during store hours. There is a five bag limit. Use door 2 to bring clothing inside.

Looking ahead: Kathy Long will be installed during the 9:30 a.m. worship service on July 20. Bishop Christopher deForest presides.

VBS: Community Vacation Bible School will be held Aug. 11-13 from 5:30-7:30 p.m., for children age 3 through grade 6. Theme: “Exploring God’s World” through air, water and earth elements Bible Lessons and activities. Please call the church office in advance to register your child by Aug. 3.

St. John’s

St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church of Mahoning, 826 Mahoning Dr. W., Lehighton, will hold a worship service with Communion at 10:45 a.m. Sunday.

Grief support: 6 p.m. on July 7.

Community Cupboard: Dinkey Memorial Church in Ashfield has a food cupboard available to those in need who are members of Dinkey Memorial and St. John’s or residents of East Penn Township. The distribution is the third Thursday of every month from 3:30-5 p.m. in Dinkey’s Social Room. For more information, speak with Pastor Tony.

175th planning committee: Anyone who has pictures memorabilia, etc. that could be given to the church as part of its history, can bring these items to the office by Aug. 1. The next anniversary planning committee meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. on July 24 in the church.

Fermenting Our Faith: A gathering will be held from 7-9 p.m. July 16 at Circa 1898. All are welcome to gather and explore faith together in a relaxed format. Contact Pastor Tony if you have any questions. 570-386-9960. prdinklc@ptd.net.

Ben Salem UCC

Ben Salem UCC, 1965 Church Hill Road, Lehighton, Summer Worship schedule has started. It includes a 9 a.m. worship service. This will continue until Sept. 7. Sunday School will resume on Sept. 14. Communion service is held the first Sunday of each month.

• Wednesday at 6:30 p.m., Senior Choir practice.

• Thursday at 6:30 p.m., Handbell Choir practice; 6-9 p.m. Men’s Bible study, open to men age 18 and up.
