The Monroe County District Attorney’s Office has filed charges against a man stemming from an ATV crash in May.
David Frantz Jr., 42, of Blakeslee, was arraigned Friday by Magisterial District Judge Richard White of Pocono Pines and charged with two counts of receiving stolen property.
Detective Manny Varkanis of the Monroe County District Attorney’s Office filed the charges against Frantz following an investigation into allegations of stolen ATVs.
The charges were based on an incident that occurred on May 7, when Pocono Mountain Regional Police Department officers responded to an ATV crash at 233 Blossom Lane. Witnesses led officers to 194 Candle Drive, where they located the injured operator, later identified as Frantz.
During the encounter, Frantz attempted to discard a bag of suspected methamphetamine and was immediately taken into custody, authorities said.
Further investigation determined that Frantz had been storing two ATVs on a property in Blakeslee that was also his residence. One ATV, a Yamaha Kodiak, had been repainted and was confirmed stolen from a residence on Mailbox Road, Mount Pocono, in late 2024.
The same ATV had also been used in a burglary in the Mount Pocono area.
The second vehicle, a 2005 Honda Rincon, was later identified as stolen from a resident in Jackson Township
Frantz was later interviewed and admitted to purchasing one of the ATVs under suspicious circumstances and possessing the second ATV on the property.
A preliminary hearing in the case has been scheduled for July 8 before White.
Frantz is currently jailed on unrelated charges and is on probation until 2027.
