Letter to the editor: About those childless cat ladies

The “Pronatalist Movement “ is here. They see woman’s primary role as giving birth. This administration wants more babies because birth rates have been declining for 10 years.

Project 2025 policies coordinates with heterosexual, anti-abortion, and restricting access to contraception in order to increase the birth rate. They want the traditional family with one parent at home, ignorant of the actual cost.

Declaring the life of females for the clueless. “Women feel most of the discussion about pregnancy and declining birth rates ignores the part men play in the problem.” I found the following reasons and there are many!

There are men who don’t want children. Men that do not stick around to raise their children, including dead beat dads. That men on dating Apps are looking for hookups, not love. How Porn has affected male-female relationships. Difficulty finding a stable, compatible partner.

The fact that women still carry the majority of child care and domestic chores, and that men expect that, including society. Not being treated as equal partners. Lack of support. Loss of freedom.

“And, it may be easier to be alone, mentally, emotionally and physically.”

The State laws where women are forced to carry rape and non-viable pregnancies. Women feeling unsafe in areas where OB-GYN doctors are leaving their state. Nationwide over 200 Hospitals have closed their labor & delivery units, more so in rural areas.

The cost to raise a child today is $320K, not including college. Income. Stagnant wages not keeping up with inflation. Modern day oligarchy. “The demands of modern work” in order to stay financially above water. Cost of purchasing a home. Cost of rent. Cost of child care. Cost of health insurance or having no health insurance as companies frequently hire part time to avoid paying benefits.

“Today’s woman does not want to make herself vulnerable, not having her own resources.”

“Uncertainty about the future in a world built by men, for men.”

Just ask Gen-Z and Millennials. The Real World.
