The Aquashicola fire company was dispatched Friday afternoon to a terrain rescue on the Appalachian Trail. The incident occurred around 2:30 p.m. when it was reported that a male hiker had fallen and injured his arm. Firefighters traversed the access road to reach the hiker and bring him out to the command center. The hiker was subsequently treated at the scene by members of the Palmerton ambulance and Lehighton paramedics before being transported to a nearby trauma center.
