Letter to the editor: Lansford Pool Decision Should Wait

It’s time for the future of the Lansford Pool and the Lehigh Valley Railroad Station to be removed from the control of the Lansford Borough Council.

The so called “pool” and the possible (splash pad) need to be left alone until a new council takes over in 2026 The Train Station needs to be either turned over to a nonprofit community organization, like Tamaqua’s, and/or sold to a taxpaying employment company.

I am not mentioning any names or positions on council. I am simply stating that the future of the pool & the train station need to be not in the hands of politicians who change annually. These projects would be better administered in the control of nonprofit persons/organizations who can be involved without the agenda of any individuals on council ... these projects are best left to the public.

As proof: in the past several years the “new pool” had been the desire of a previous council. We all know that that went nowhere due to the cost. Next the discussion (and attempt and spent money) was to repair the old pool.

Again that project went nowhere. Next is the “splash pad” and that project is in limbo with, what I understand or hear about, a grant application for a study.

Currently we are reading about an amphitheater plus … what will be brought up at future council meetings.

Please notice that in the most recent Times News article, June 7, 2025, plans to have Radocha fill the pool have disappeared … not even a mention … just like so many other plans, ideas, motions, etc. etc. etc… talk, talk, talk and make motions and do zero, zip, nada, nothing, except talk about it some more, probably at next weeks meeting.
