The Fine Wine & Good Spirits in Lehighton celebrated its grand opening on Thursday.

Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board welcomed local officials and the public to the store at 101 Blakeslee Blvd., Ste. 2.

Doug Hitz, deputy executive director, Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board, touted the store’s more than 1,845-quare feet of retail space that features more than 1,450 wines and spirits.

“This store would not be able to operate without the hard work of this team,” Hitz said.

To mark the occasion, the store offered 10% off all in-store items. Free wine and spirits tastings were also held in the store for those 21 years of age and older.

Sal Romano of Ashfield purchased wine said he likes the fact that the store is located on the Route 443 corridor.

“My wife told me they are going to open,” Romano said. “I like that everything is on the strip.“

Tony Mangold of East Penn Township made several purchases as well and said he too was impressed with the stores features and selection.

“It looks beautiful,” Mangold said.

Shawn Kelly, press secretary, Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board, said the Fine Wine & Good Spirits offers consumers an enhanced shopping experience with a new retail space and floor plan, a warm and welcoming environment, and a wide selection.

“The aisles are wider,” Kelly said. “We decided to make it easy for customers to find the products; we want them to be able to browse.”

The new store is located in a two-unit, 7,500-square-foot building constructed on roughly 1 acre west of Advance Auto. Mason’s Cold Beer Too, located at 101 Blakeslee Blvd Dr. E., occupies 4,500 square feet of the building, while the new Fine Wine & Good Spirits store occupies the remaining 3,000 square feet.

Store hours are from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.

Mason’s Cold Beer Too opened in the summer of 2023 in the building, which was slated to be a beverage center (beer store), with the rest for wine and spirits.

Other Fine Wine & Good Spirits Stores are located at 221 Delaware Ave. in Palmerton, and 200 S. Best Ave. in Walnutport (Walnutport Shopping Center), Kinsley’s Shoprite Plaza in Brodheadsville and 210 Cedar St. in Tamaqua.

The Fine Wine & Good Spirits Store in Palmerton underwent remodeling that was completed in August 2023. The remodeling consisted of a new floor and signs, along with being handicapped accessible.

The Fine Wine & Good Spirits at 143 South St. in Lehighton is now closed.
