The Weatherly Hillclimb Spring Season gets underway Saturday and Sunday with more than 100 drivers expected to tackle the winding incline, its association president said.
While racing happens both days from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., spectators this year will be able to watch entire runs on a big screen on Saturday from noon to 5 p.m., Joe Cyburt said.
The association is working with the Pocono Mountain Visitors Bureau and WFMZ in Allentown to have Saturday’s event professionally filmed. The partnership will allow people to view the action through all the sweeping turns, the jump and finish line, he said.
With a large turnout expected, additional parking with a shuttle service will be available at the Weatherly Borough Building on West Main Street and Eurana Park on Third Street. Signs will be posted in town directing visitors, Cyburt said.
Weatherly Faith Church offered the use of its 15-passenger bus for the free shuttle service, but donations would be greatly appreciated, he added.
Numerous vendors — all local nonprofits — will be selling food with breakfast, lunch and snack options available through the day supporting the event as well as raising money for the organizations, Cyburt said.
The PMVB has been promoting the event, which is cosponsored by Fairway Subaru and St. Luke’s University Health Network, for more than two weeks.
