Michael Williams, seated center, a Panther Valley High School senior, signed a letter of intent to attend Penn State University’s Altoona Campus where he will participate with the swimming team. Williams has competed for four years as an independent swimmer representing the Panthers. He is a four-time District 11 qualifier in the 200 freestyle and the 100 backstroke.
Michael has trained for 10 years with the Tamaqua Blue Waves under Coach Liz Pinkey. His high school training was under the direction of coaches Jennifer Paisley and Lisa Trubilla. In addition to swimming, Michael was a four-year member of the Panthers’ varsity football team and a three-year member of the varsity track and field team.
He is a member of the National Honor Society and Harmony Scholars. Williams will major in cyber security and digital forensics. The Altoona Nittany Lions swim team is under Head Coach Brad Brooks.
