Fire companies from Nesquehoning, Jim Thorpe and a Lehigh-Lausanne responded Monday evening to the area of the Glen Onoko Falls to rescue a female hiker in distress.

The incident occurred just after 6 p.m. when the hiker called the Carbon County communication center reporting she was lost. Firefighters located the woman shortly before 8 p.m. in a remote area of the mountain.

She was later brought to safety believed to be unharmed.
