Assistant principal resigns at Pleasant Vly. High School
Pleasant Valley High School will be saying good-bye to one of its assistant principals.
Assistant Principal Jeremy Byrd turned in his resignation, which was on the school board agenda Thursday night. He was one of three assistant principals at the high school.
Byrd was hired by the school district in January 2024 with a salary of $90,000, which was prorated for that first year. He is going to another district closer to home in Wilkes-Barre. Before coming to PVHS, he was the principal of Wellsboro High School in Wellsboro. His last day at PVHS is June 30.
Additional personnel changes include:
• Hiring of student custodial/maintenance summer workers — custodians: Emily Madhoo, PVES; Colton Coleman and Aiden Cannarella, PVIS; Anthony Williams and Brian Correia, PVMS; Isabella London, Jeremiah Cox and Amber Oriol, PVHS; and Charles Burrell, maintenance, all $13 per hour.
• Change of assignment — Sydnie Christman, from kindergarten teacher to second grade teacher, PVES, effective Aug. 20, replacing April Rice, who has a change of assignment; Lauren Black, from special education learning support to seventh grade English teacher, PVMS, effective Aug. 20, replacing Monica Ohland, who has a change of assignment; and Michael Weiss, English teacher, from PVHS to PVMS, effective Aug. 20.
• Hiring of professional staff — Logan Dickman, social studies teacher, PVMS, $52,642, effective Aug. 20, replacing George Fair; Taylor Lindsey, social studies teacher, PVHS, $91,742, effective Aug. 20, replacing Joseph Agolino; and Alyssa Wechsler, family consumer science teacher, PVMS, effective Aug. 20, $99,242, replacing Jennifer Mulder.
• Hiring support staff — Kyra Unterberg and Morgan Slater, paraprofessionals, PVMS, $27,586, effective Aug. 20, replacing Lisa Dixon and Karen Voulo, respectively; Donna Morris, secretary, PVHS, $34,446, effective July 7, replacing Helen Sabo.
• Hiring summer computer technicians — Isaiah Persico, Scott Lee and Graydon Hoffner, $13 per hour.
• Retirement — David Lewis, biology teacher, PVHS, effective end of school year.
• Supplemental contracts nonathletic — summer school tutoring: Arianna Weaver, math; Lance Soodeen, biology and chemistry; Logan Dickman, social studies; Jamile Ferrara, special education; and Loretta Snyder, English, all $29 per hour.
• Volunteers — Sarah Baio, Jessica Keegan, Gerard LaMonte, Desiree Peppriell, Michael Rice and Michelle Sciabica.
