Several events are planned this weekend at the Diligence Fire Company in Summit Hill, including a recruitment effort for new firefighters and fire police members.
Other activities include a food truck festival, a Memorial Day breakfast event by the borough’s Recreation Commission and participation by members in the town’s Memorial Day Parade.
The food truck festival is on Saturday. Numerous food trucks will be present at the fire company.
In addition, the fire department will have a table in which it is hoping to recruit new members, including fire police members.
Kevin Steber, fire company president, said anyone age 18 or over can apply to become a fire police member.
Information about the duties and criteria for firefighters and fire police will be available at the site.
On Monday, the Summit Hill Recreation Commission will sell breakfast sandwiches in the fire company parking lot from 8:45 to 10:45 a.m.
Kathy Gieniec, chairman of the Recreation Commission, said this has become an annual event for the group to raise money for recreational purposes.
The annual Memorial Day Parade in Summit Hill will begin at 11 a.m. Prior to this, a Memorial Day service will be held in Ludlow Park at 10 a.m.
The Summit Hill Fire Department will be participating in the parade, as will numerous other fire departments.
