Palmerton schools

The Palmerton Area School District announces that schools will be closed on and Monday, May 26 in observance of Memorial Day.

Jerusalem UCC

Jerusalem UCC, 545 Church Drive, Palmerton (Trachsville) will be holding a flea market from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on June 6 and from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on June 7. The flea market will be held in the grove rain or shine. The kitchen will be open for breakfast and lunch.

The church will also host a community picnic on Aug. 2. The rain date is Aug. 3.

The event begins at noon. There will be lunch, a cakewalk, raffles, kids activities, cornhole tournament, live music and more.

Bring your lawn chair. The picnic is held in the picnic grove off Route 209 behind the fire company.

Save the date: JUCC Apple Fall Festival will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Oct. 4. Crafters and vendors are needed. Space will be available in the grove and inside the church.

Jerusalem Lutheran

Jerusalem Lutheran Church, 500 Church Drive, Trachsville, will hold a turkey BBQ dinner fundraiser on June 13.

The event is eat in or take-out and will be held in one of two sittings at 4 and 5:30 p.m. for those eating in. Takeouts will be available from 4 to 6 p.m. A bake sale will also be held during the dinner.

All proceeds from the dinner benefit a local church family in need.
