No contested primaries in N. Carbon

With no contested races in seven Northern Carbon County municipalities in Tuesday’s primary election, voting was complimentary in nature. In fact, while both the Democratic and Republican parties had no races, that appears to be the same situation heading into the general election in November, as no apparent contests are likely in the positions to be filled.

The candidates in the respective municipalities who won nominations Tuesday, and their vote totals, include:

Banks Township

William J. Nice, Democrat, supervisor, 76; and Antoinette Tawnie Porpiglia, Democrat, tax collector, 72.

Lausanne Township

Edward Klynowsky, Republican, supervisor, 16; and Melanie J. Zacharias, Republican, tax collector, 17.

Lehigh Township

Teresa M. Barna, Republican, tax collector, 51.

Packer Township

Robert Selert, Republican, supervisor, 104; Valerie Kane, Republican, tax collector, 118; Alicia Nyer, Republican, judge of elections, 115; and Kristin Wilkinson, Republican, inspector of elections, 107.

Beaver Meadows Borough

Michael B. Gerhard, Republican, mayor, 45; Robert J. Cryder III, Democrat, council, 14; Michael B. Gerhard, Republican, council, 44; and Michael Baran, Republican, council, 39.

East Side Borough

Sharon Mrozinski, Republican, council, 22; and Lisa Jones, Republican, tax collector, 25.

Weatherly Borough
