A Coaldale man was jailed following a domestic dispute, police said.
William Conway III, 46, faces charges of strangulation, simple assault, harassment and disorderly conduct filed by state police at the Frackville barracks.
Police said a 30-year-old woman was choked and assaulted at 3:18 p.m. May 12 on West Phillips Street. There was an active Protection from Abuse court order in place, they said.
Conway was taken into custody and arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Edward Tarantelli, who set bail at $50,000 cash. Conway was unable to post bail and remained jailed in Schuylkill County Prison, Pottsville.
A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for May 20 before Magisterial District Judge Stephen Bayer, Tamaqua.
