Blacktop bash

The Weatherly Area School District Title I Blacktop Bash will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. on May 16 at the Weatherly Elementary School back parking lot.

People are invited to bring their own lawn chairs to sit, relax, enjoy the games, music, crafts and food vendors. The event is rain or shine.

More than a dozen food vendors and nearly 20 craft and other vendors will be on hand, in addition to games, raffles, face painting, an inflatable obstacle course and more.

Weatherly Hillclimb

The Weatherly Hillclimb Association is looking for volunteers to help with the spring event on June 7 and 8.

Saturday’s event will be professionally filmed this year and shown on a big-screen television at the starting line for people to watch cars run through the course, organizers said.

The association is looking for people to serve as corner watchers, timing workers, announcers and general help. All of these positions are vital for the safety of the drivers, teams and spectators.

Guidance and training will be provided, as 100% focus is needed during the races.
