Pa. outdoor groups sponsor wildlife art contest for youth
The Pennsylvania Federation of Sportsmen & Conservationists and the Pennsylvania Wildlife Federation invite school-aged youth to share their connection with the outdoors in the annual Wildlife Art Contest.
Each year, PFSC and PWF host a themed contest that encourages creative expression while fostering appreciation for Pennsylvania’s wildlife and natural resources.
The contest is open to all students in grades 4-12 who reside in Pennsylvania, including those in public, private, and home schools.
Entries are judged within specific grade groups. The goal is to inspire young people to explore and better understand Pennsylvania’s wildlife, fisheries, and natural landscapes.
Pollinators play a vital role in supporting ecosystems by helping flowering plants reproduce and contributing to crop production.
This year’s theme, Pennsylvania’s Pollinators, highlights the importance of native pollinators and raises awareness about their declining populations.
When thinking about pollinators, butterflies may come to mind first — but they’re just one part of a diverse group.
What other pollinators live in Pennsylvania? When are they most active? What happens if pollinator populations decline?
And what evidence of their work can you find right in your backyard?
Participants are encouraged to submit photos that depict Pennsylvania’s pollinators or illustrate the results of their pollination efforts.
By learning more about pollinators, students can gain a deeper appreciation of the natural world and understand how conservation supports the environment — and how small actions can make a big difference right at home.
All entries must be submitted electronically. For entry forms, rules, deadlines and submission instructions, visit pawildlife.org.
