Elsie Beckett is celebrating her 94th birthday today.

She worked at Gnaden Huetten Hosptial for 25 years, when it first opened, as an LPN. She left due to a cancer diagnosis. After that, she helped people in their homes.

She was president of Lehighton Seniors for five years and loved spending time with the women. Due to a car crash, she could no longer attend the meetings, but continued to enjoy and love.

Elsie has four children, Rosemarie DeHaven, Dr. Edward Beckett and Georgette Beckett, all of Lehighton, and Steffany Quilo, of Salisbury, Maryland; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She enjoys playing bingo and going to the casino and spending time with her family.

A party is being held in honor at the Lehighton Legion.
