South Whitehall Emergency, Law Enforcement programs now accepting registrations

South Whitehall Township Emergency Services Youth Camp for ages 12 — 16 years old will be taking place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 16-20 at Cetronia Ambulance Corps, 4300 Broadway, South Whitehall.

This free Camp is being sponsored by Cetronia Ambulance Corps, Cetronia Fire Company, Greenawalds Fire/Rescue, South Whitehall Township Police, South Whitehall Emergency Management, and Woodlawn Fire Department.

The South Whitehall Township Emergency Services Camp will offer youth the opportunity to learn about the important role that public safety workers play in the community, as well as provide a basic understanding for pursuing a fulfilling career in emergency services.

This youth programs is designed to offer a hands-on and exciting educational experience.

Students will have the opportunity to participate in the following aspects of emergency services: life saving skills, cardiopulmonary resuscitation and first aid, vehicle extrication and rescue, police and fire K-9s, bomb squad, special operations and tech rescue, fire fighting and emergency communications.

Campers will travel to different locations throughout the week.

Transportation will be provided by Cetronia Ambulance Corps.

A full schedule will be provided on the first day of camp.

Participants will be given a camp T-shirt on the first day and are to wear the shirt throughout the week.

Lunch will also be provided each day.

The camp will end after a family picnic and awards at noon on June 20.

Camp enrollment is limited to 24 participants.

Upon receipt of your registration, you will receive a packet of information for the camp including forms that must be signed by the camper’s parent or legal guardian and returned before June 16.

The South Whitehall Township Police Department is accepting registrations for its seventh annual free Youth Law Enforcement Academy, a hands-on, engaging program designed to introduce local youth to the world of law enforcement, to be held at the police headquarters, 4444 Walbert Ave., from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 23-27.

It is open to South Whitehall Township residents entering fifth through seventh grade (ages 10—12).

Priority will be given to first-time attendees.

If space allows, Parkland School District students living outside the township may also be considered.

Program Highlights Include: crime scene processing and evidence collection, fingerprinting and forensics, K-9 and SWAT demonstrations, DUI Task and Police Bike Team activities, mounted police and aviation unit visits, Criminal Justice system overview, presentations from partner agencies, team-building exercises and more.

Lunch and snacks will be provided daily.
