Fire companies from Schuylkill and Carbon counties were dispatched to a brush fire Wednesday evening in a remote area of West Penn Township. The alarm came in around 7:30 p.m. for a brush fire in the area of the 100 block of Millhead road. It was then discovered the fire was located in a heavily wooded area to the rear of the homes atop a hill. The only access to the fire was a narrow dirt road or path leading up the hill. Officers used utility vehicles to carry firefighters to the site. Fire companies from West Penn, East Penn, Mahoning Valley, New Ringgold and Tamaqua responded. The fire was located along Milhead Road between St. Peter’s and Strauss Valley roads.
