Area police are investigating a number of thefts:

• State police at the Fogelsville barracks are investigating a theft that was reported at 9:21 a.m. Dec. 8 at the New Tripoli Bank, 6748 Madison St., Lynn Township.

Police said a Slatington resident reported someone entered her safe deposit box and stole coins and precious metals.

• State police at the Lehighton barracks are investigating two telephone scam incidents.

One happened at 12:30 p.m. Dec. 14 in East Penn Township, where police were summoned to a theft by deception and ID theft incident.

The second scam happened at 11 a.m. Dec. 21 in Polk Township.

• A 23-year-old Summit Hill man is the victim of a theft incident reported to state police at the Lehighton barracks.

Police said the man arrived at the barracks at 5:04 p.m. Dec. 19 to report someone used an account of his without authorization. Police said the suspect also forged the complainant’s signature after making purchases with his stolen account information.

• A 50-year-old Kunkletown woman reported to state police at the Lehighton barracks at 6:59 p.m. Dec. 19 that she is missing a ring since May.

Police said the woman, who resides along Scenic Drive in Polk Township, told them she suspects the ring was stolen.
