St. Jerome Regional School in Hometown celebrated Ash Wednesday with a Mass on Wednesday morning. The Revs. Ronald Minner and Robert Finlan, as well as Deacon Edward Girard distributed ashes to the students and urged them to take this time to reflect, abstain and fast in preparation for the Easter holiday. Ashes are created by burning the dried palm leaves from the previous year’s Palm Sunday service. The ash is then mixed with a chrism oil or Holy Water to create a paste.
