Letter to the editor: We need to return to God

According to a recent article in England’s Telegraph, leftist parties are currently more unpopular than at any time since the end of the Cold War; right-wing parties have achieved significant victories in 73 democratic countries.

America’s new conservative right is the reason for this phenomenon. Our new administration has effectively capitalized on the insanity of the left, but so far it has not been able to present a true conservative identity; it has become a mix of populism and nationalism, neglecting crucial moral issues.

Sadly, our new leadership is not fully addressing some of the moral issues that appealed to the conservatives who voted them in. While the left complains that the right is imposing a Christian agenda on society; ironically, the new “Cultural Christian” leadership here and abroad is far from what a true conservative should represent.

Elon Musk is the father of twelve children from three women. France’s Marine le Pen’s National Party made abortion permanent in the French Constitution. The co-chair of Germany’s “far-right” Alternative Germany party, lesbian Alice Weidel and her partner, Sarah are in a civil union with adopted children.

God doesn’t bless sinful man’s actions. True conservative Christians need to recognize that the problem in the world today is not political or economic; it is profoundly a religious one deep in the soul of man. Even though many good changes are taking place in our country we need to be vigilant realizing that what’s needed most is man’s amendment of life and return to God.

If conservative Christians become complacent with the status quo and ignore this fact our decline will come quickly; without man’s total conversion, our leadership will never attain the profound transformations needed to change the culture and prevent the criminal actions of many which are exponentially growing daily.
