A Landsdowne woman was injured Saturday in Jim Thorpe when the porta-potty she was using was struck by a vehicle.
Jim Thorpe Police were dispatched to 163 W. Broadway just after 11 a.m. after receiving reports of a motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian.
Alessia Carangella, according to police, was inside a portable toilet when it was struck by a vehicle driven by John Drury Jr., a local resident.
Carangella sustained injuries as a result of the collision and was transported to a medical facility for treatment via a personal vehicle. Drury, however, was not injured.
According to the police report, the crash occurred when Drury’s foot accidentally slipped off the brake pedal and onto the gas pedal, causing his vehicle to accelerate and veer onto the sidewalk. His vehicle then struck several parked cars, pushing them into each other before ultimately colliding with the portable toilet.
Police are continuing the investigation into the incident.
