A Saylorsburg man has been charged with the attempted strangulation of a family member.
According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by Trooper Matthew Lento of the Pennsylvania State Police Lehighton barracks in the case against David Castiglioni:
At 10:12 a.m. Oct. 6, Lento responded to a home in the 2800 block of Spruce Hollow Road, Towamensing Township, for a report of a physical domestic incident.
Lento spoke with the victim, who said she found out her father, Castiglioni, 64, was going through her belongings.
She said she asked Castiglioni for her belongings, at which time Castiglioni repeatedly pushed and grabbed her with his hands.
During the altercation, she said Castiglioni put his arm around the victim’s neck.
The victim further related that Castiglioni squeezed his arm around her neck, which prevented her from being able to breathe.
While speaking with Lento, the victim had a hoarse and raspy voice, and Lento observed red marks on both sides of her neck.
Castiglioni faces charges of strangulation, simple assault and harassment.
Castiglioni is currently free in lieu of $40,000 unsecured bail, and scheduled to have a preliminary hearing Oct. 16 before District Judge William J. Kissner of Palmerton.
