The annual Christmas Tree Decorating and Tree Lighting Event is set for John F. Kennedy Park in Lansford.
The Friends of Lansford Recreation joined with Lansford Alive for the tree lighting, music and Santa visit to the park on Dec. 1.
Fifty trees have been secured from Rehrig’s Nursery in Lehighton for the event. Those interested in adopting a Christmas tree to decorate need to remit payment by Saturday. Trees are available on a first come, first served basis.
Donations for the tree remain the same at $50 for each tree. The trees can be themed toward businesses, nonprofits, educational, memory, restoration of health, military, religious, or whatever the group or individual chooses. Upon receipt of payment, guidelines will be provided.
Dates and times for the tree decorating are Nov. 29 and 30 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Dec. 1 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., after which will be the tree lighting and Santa visit. The rain date for the event is Dec. 8.
The trees will remain on display in the park throughout the holiday season and into the New Year.
People can make checks payable to Friends of Lansford Recreation, and mail them in care of Gwyneth Collevechio, treasurer; 116 W. Bertsch St., Lansford, Pa. 18232, or call 570-657-0674.
