A Snapchat post on Saturday that caused concern about a potential shooting at the Northampton Area High School turned out to be a joke, state police at the Bethlehem barracks said.

Police reported Monday they were called to 6090 Weaversville Road, East Allen Township, at 5:30 p.m. Saturday when a Snapchat user posted “I quote @alec_mcmahon0 I’ll shoot the school on Monday.”

But they said upon interviewing a 15-year-old resident of the above address and his 15-year-old friend, it was discovered the statement was made while the boys were playing video games. They related to police they did not mean to threaten anyone. Police also said the juveniles have no weapons not access to weapons.
