Palmerton School Board

Palmerton Area School District’s board of directors approved the following items Tuesday:

• Affiliation agreement with Lehigh University for Project STAY (through 2029).

• Acceptance of the Hayward Computer Career Accelerator Fund Cybersecurity Course Grant ($20,287.70) from Carbon County Community Foundation.

• Hirings, Jenna McHugh as instructional assistant at $18.28 per hour; Katherine Kamm and Emily Reinherz as guest teachers at a daily rate of $110; horizontal movements for Morgan Hesse (bachelor’s to master’s) and Kristen Perdew (Master’s +15 to Master’s +30); Stephanie Blees (Student Council-JHS Co-Advisor); Christopher Kery (Student Council-JHS Co-Advisor); Sean Hall (Drama Club - Volunteer); Jennifer Sommers as Palmerton Area Music Parents Association volunteer chaperon for the 2024-25 school year, and Jessica Mooney as substitute instructional assistant at $10 per hour.

• A conference for Jamie Schuler, assistant to the superintendent. It is the PASCD Annual Conference in Hershey at an estimated cost of $862.50.

• The first reading of various policies including discrimination/harassment affecting students, nondiscrimination-qualified students with disabilities, discrimination/harassment affecting staff, pregnant/parenting/married students, hazing and bullying/cyberbullying.
