Annual Rockin’ Rescue to be held this weekend
An event that unifies animal care education and resources for residents of Carbon County will be held this weekend.
The 14th annual Rockin’ Rescue will run from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday in the Weissport Borough Park.
Sponsored by Blue Mountain Animal Rescue and Blue Mountain Adoption Center, the event will feature entertainment, food, a Summer Delight Bakery homemade live auction with vendors, rescuers, a flea market, silent auction, and 50/50s.
There will be entertainment by Bees Knees & “Bugsy’s Evolution Band” on Saturday. On Sunday, the Pennsylvania Villagers will perform from 1 to 3 p.m., followed by Jeff Krick Sr. Elvis Presley tribute artist from 6 to 8 p.m.
Food will be available from Three Brothers Pizza, as well as barbecue, macaroni and cheese, halushki, walking tacos, hot dogs, and pierogies.
The bakery homemade live auction takes place at 3:15 p.m. Sunday.
Donna Crum, president of the Blue Mountain Animal Rescue Society and Animal Emergency and Vet Care Assistance Fund, who is also the founder of the Rockin’ Rescue, said that a queen size, handmade quilt drawing will also be held Sunday.
“We’re hoping to get people to come out to help us help the overpopulation with spay and neuter,” Crum said.
There will also be animal rescuers and shelters on hand with pets available for adoption.
A silent auction sponsored by BMARS will see winners drawn at 7 p.m. Sunday.
The event, which was originally set to be held in Mahoning Township in July, was rescheduled. For more information, contact BMARS at 570-249-7890 or 610-703-6558.
