Safety issues with East Church Street in Slatington have been addressed, borough council was told at Monday’s meeting.
At the Aug. 12 meeting, Mayor Jeralyn Schoch read a letter from borough Police Chief Greg Winokur, who was not in attendance.
In the letter, the chief said the narrow street was busier since the Walnut Street bridge closed; speeding was an issue; and that children play in the street in that area.
Winokur wanted the council to approve more signs and possibly speed bumps for the 300 block of Church Street to improve the situation.
At Monday’s meeting, council President David Schnaars reported that more signs were put in place and that crews from Slatington and Walnutport boroughs cleared growth and trees to improve visibility on the street for motorists and pedestrians.
