Lehighton Council

Lehighton Borough Council approved the following items this week:

• Livengood Excavator’s final payment application No. 6 in the amount of $70,614 for the pedestrian safety and traffic calming project.

• Agreed to have the Lehighton Downtown Initiative purchase and install a new audio system for the Upper Park and amphitheater, at no cost to the borough.

• Agreed to have AMP install a Power & Light Peak Shaving backup generator at no charge to the borough. The only thing the borough has to give up is land.

• Will advertise the fat, oil and grease trap ordinance.

• Will advertise an ordinance for vacating Penn, Graver and three unnamed alleys, at no cost to the borough.

• Armin Feldman’s letter for 90-day waiver for planning commission.

• Application for the 19th annual Pink Light Walk on Oct. 1.

• Donation of $250 to the Lehighton Halloween Parade to sponsor a band. The 53rd annual parade is scheduled for 4 p.m. Oct. 19, with a rain date of Oct. 20 at 2 p.m.

• Trick-or-treat night for 6-8 p.m. Oct. 31.

• Application for the Carnival in the Grove to be held May 7-10.
