Blue Mountain launches fall mountain bike racing season

Blue Mountain Resort’s bike park kicks off its fall racing season with the MAXXIS Eastern States Cup Race Sept. 14-15.

Every year, Blue Mountain Resort collaborates with cycling organizations to host local, regional and national downhill mountain bike races. Perfect for riders of all skill levels, Blue Mountain features trails designed for everyone from beginners to professionals. Nestled within Little Gap Valley, the year-round resort boasts the highest vertical in the state. Its seasonal bike park offers riders exhilarating experiences with challenging berms, chutes and booters.

The bike park features 29 trails, including the notoriously difficult “The Swartz” for expert riders, and “Shakedown Street” for beginners. All trails are serviced by the efficient high-speed Comet Quad Lift, ensuring riders spend more time on the trails and less time in line.

The fall 2024 Downhill Racing Schedule at Blue Mountain Resort is as follows:

• Sept. 14-15, MAXXIS Eastern States Cup Race: This event includes categories for kids, juniors, amateurs, masters, experts/pros, boys, girls, men and women, promoting the growth of gravity mountain bike racing on the East Coast.

• Sept. 22, Mid-Atlantic Super Series (M.A.S.S.): Known for sponsoring races at some of the best courses in the country, M.A.S.S. has been a premier mountain bike race series since 2001 linking together great races into season-long individual and team competitions.

• Oct. 4-8, Interscholastic Pennsylvania Cycling League: This youth development organization uses mountain biking to inspire kids to live healthy lifestyles, build strong communities and engage in trail stewardship with a motto of “Let’s Get More Kids on Bikes.”
