Organization seeks input to improve walking, biking

Residents in Carbon, Monroe and Schuylkill counties will have opportunities to provide their thoughts on ways to improve walking, biking, wheeling and other nonmotorized travel in their counties.

The Northeastern Pennsylvania Alliance Metropolitan Planning Organization is developing its first-ever regional active transportation plan and will hold public meetings over the next two weeks.

In Carbon County, the meeting will take place from 4 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday at 44 Susquehanna St., Jim Thorpe.

Schuylkill residents can attend the meeting from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday at Alvernia Pottsville College Towne, 500 Progress Ave., Pottsville.

The meeting will then be held in Monroe County from 4 to 6 p.m. on Sept. 18 at the Monroe County Public Safety Center, 100 Gypsum Road, Stroudsburg.

Residents are encouraged to attend if they have an idea or want to provide input regarding nonmotorized travel.

If you cannot make the meeting, comments are now being accepted by Kate McMahon at 570-891-4690 or kmcmahon@nepa-alliance.org; or Casey Bottiger at 717-221-2075 or casey.bottiger@mbakerintl.com.
