St. Luke’s donates $5,000 to Palmerton festival

St. Luke’s University Health Network has given a $5,000 donation to the Palmerton Community Festival.

Susie Arner, festival president and co-chair of the event, said the donation is extremely valued.

“This will aid in our overall budget to ensure we can continue to provide the community with a great event,” Arner said. “As we all know, expenses have increased; this, along with all the other contributions, will help and are appreciated.”

John Nespoli, president of St. Luke’s Carbon, said the donation reflects the “community spirit of Palmerton.”

“The Palmerton Festival is the best community festival I’ve ever been to,” Nespoli said.

Recently, the festival also received a $5,000 donation from Befesa Zinc US Inc., a zinc reclaiming company.

That donation will support the festival’s most recent project, which is the new LED lighting placed at the intersections of all pedestrian crosswalks surrounding the park.

The 35th annual Palmerton Community Festival runs Sept. 6-8 in the borough park.
