Lewistown Valley Camp meeting to be held Aug. 23-Sept. 2

The 111th Lewistown Valley Camp meeting will be held daily from Aug. 23 to Sept. 2 from the Lewistown Valley Tabernacle, 614 Valley Rd., Tamaqua. All are welcome.

The Revs. Daniel and Betsy Taylor of Laurel, Delaware, will lead services each day. The Taylors have pastored churches in Pennsylvania, Maryland and Delaware for more than 45 years. They sing together and still minister with Bible and singing services in senior day care centers and nursing homes.

The Pennsylvania Adult and Teen Challenge Choir of Rehrersburg will perform at 7 p.m. Aug. 29 for Missionary Night.

The River of Grace Gospel Group will perform at 2:30 p.m. Sept. 1. The southern gospel quartet is based in Pennsylvania, and their message is to bring God’s plan of salvation to the lost, encourage believers in their daily walk and challenge people to make a renewed determination to serve the Lord.

Mended Heart of Pine Grove will perform at 2:30 p.m. on Labor Day, Sept. 2. The group plays a blend of southern country gospel, older traditional and new contemporary music. Food will be available for purchase on Labor Day.

The event is organized each year by Calvary Evangelical Church of the Lewistown Valley. Starting in 1913, outdoor services were first held at the tabernacle in a tent. The present tabernacle was built around 1925. The church holds its services from June to September at the tabernacle, and ends the season with the camp meeting.
