Calvary Lewistown
Pastor Kim will deliver a message of the goodness of God, and issue praises for the culmination of Vacation Bible School during the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service at the Lewistown Valley Tabernacle, 614 Valley Road, Tamaqua. Special music presentation will be Bible school songs. Sunday school for all ages is at 9:15 a.m. Sunday evening praise and worship service will be held at 7 p.m. There will be no Wednesday prayer gathering.
The Youth Camp Out will be held Aug. 1 and 2, with a sleepover for Bible breakfast. For details, call 570-952-1678. On Aug. 4, the annual all-day Calvary Evangelical Sunday school picnic will be held. Bring a dish of food to share and stay for games and hot dogs. A vesper service will follow at 5 p.m.
The camp meeting at the tabernacle begins Aug. 23 and continues through Labor Day.
Rush, Ryan and Delano Seniors
The Rush, Ryan and Delano Senior Citizens met at Christ Church on July 23 with 28 members and three guests present.
The meeting opened with a reading of the Lord’s Prayer, Pledge of Allegiance and singing of “God Bless America.”
Nancy Nunemacher was welcomed back. Gladys Arner, Beverly Barron, Nancy Messerschmidt and Shirley Kaiser were added to the sick list.
It was discussed that those who don’t attend meetings will not be entitled to free picnics or Christmas parties. The group plans to determine how many meetings members must attend.
The group meets at 1 p.m. on the second and fourth Tuesday of the month at Christ Church. Anyone 55 and older is invited to attend.
Beach Party Luncheon
A Beach Party Luncheon will be held at 11:30 a.m. Aug. 13 at Grace Evangelical Free Church, 101 Graeff St., Cressona. The event features Addie Bierly of Niagara Falls, New York, speaking about “Eight Decades with My BFF.” Special music will be provided by Ariana and Tiffany Eifert, accompanied in dance by Karoline Eifert.
