PSP STROUDSBURG - 3 CRASHES
State police at the Stroudsburg barracks reported the following crashes:
• Ismael Cenexant, 21, and Diandral Rivera-Barreto, 19, both of Effort, were injured in a three-vehicle crash at 8:58 p.m. June 28 on Route 209 in Hamilton Township.
Police said the two were pulled from the wreckage by passing motorists and had burns and head injuries. Police said Rivera-Barreto had serious injuries and Cenexant had minor injuries. They were treated by personnel from St. Luke’s Emergency and Transport Services.
The driver of one of the other vehicles, Craig McCoy, 62, of Brodheadsville, reported back pain and was transported to the St. Luke’s Hospital, Bethlehem.
Police said the crash occurred when Cenexant, driving a 2000 Ford Mustang north, crossed through the grass median and entered the southbound lanes, striking a 2017 GMC Acadia driven by McCoy. Police said the Mustang continued through the southbound shoulder, where it struck the guide rails, burst into flames and began to flip. At some point, the Mustang struck a 2011 Nissan operated by Cameron S. Weikel, 32, of East Stroudsburg, before overturning several times and coming to rest in the left lane of Route 209 southbound.
Police said Weikel and a passenger, Sierra M. Ramos, 26, of Effort, were uninjured. Police said that Cenexant was cited for careless driving.
• Two vehicles crashed at 7:03 p.m. June 20 on Route 33 in Hamilton Township.
Police said the crash occurred when Trynity P. Quistgaard, 20, of East Stroudsburg, was traveling north in a 2011 Dodge Avenger and her car struck the rear of a 2010 Nissan Altima operated by Keyla M. Carrasco, 19, of Bartonsville.
Carrasco and a passenger were transported by Suburban EMS to the St. Luke’s Hospital for medical evaluations, police said.
• Jay J. Patel, 25, of Stroudsburg, was seriously injured in a one-vehicle crash at 8:17 p.m. June 23 on Route 209 in Hamilton Township, police said.
He was driving a 2023 Tesla Model S south when it left the right side of the road, traveled onto the grass and hit several small trees before rotating 90 degrees and traveling across the northbound and southbound lanes, finally coming to rest against a guide rail, police said.
