Carbon County commissioners
Carbon County Commissioners conducted the following business last week:
• Accepted the resignation of Ann Marie McFarland of Jim Thorpe from the Area Agency on Aging Advisory Board. She was a community representative.
• Reappointed the following people to the AAA Advisory Board: Kimberly Miller of Lehighton, representing the community, and Mary Gilhool of Jim Thorpe, representing consumers, both three-year terms ending June 30, 2027; and Suzanne D. Smith, St. Luke’s, and Ellen Cauthen, CCAAAA volunteer, both representing community, and Garry Wentz, of Palmerton Senior Center; Mary Zeleznock, Weatherly Senior Center, Thomas A. Williams, Lehighton Senior Center, and Diane Luedtke, Jim Thorpe/Penn-Kidder Senior Center, all consumer representatives.
• Approved purchase of services agreements for Children & Youth with these providers: Access Services Inc. Washington, Washington County; Clear Vision Residential Treatment Services Inc., Montgomery, Montgomery County; and Merakey Pennsylvania, Harrisburg.
• Approved an intergovernmental cooperative agreement with Verizon Wireless for a custom public safety/first responder plan at a monthly access fee of $34.99 for a 24-month line term. (A total of 159 devices.)
• Approved a proposal from John Controls Fire Protection of Allentown, to provide annual service to the fire pump system, including the preventive maintenance agreement located in the pump house at the correctional facility at a total cost of $2,668 annually from Sept. 1, 2024 to Aug. 31, 2025. There is no increase.
• Approved the submission of a grant application for $111,760 in funding from the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency for reimbursement of Vivitrol administration and treatment expenses at the prison. The project period is Oct. 1, 2024 to Sept. 30, 2026.
• Approved a three-year service agreement with PenTeleData for phone service and internet service at the Carbon County Animal Shelter in Nesquehoning at a monthly recurring fee of $120.85 and a non-recurring fee of $119.95. (Increase of $49.95.)
• Approved a quote from Dell Technologies of Round Rock, Texas, to purchase a Dell PowerEdge R760 server to host county files at a cost of $21,439.55, under a state COSTARS contract.
• Approved addendum/extension agreements with Care Link Home Care LLC, Weatherly; and Royal Home Care Services Inc., Allentown, to continue to provide personal care and home support services for CCAAA through June 30, 2026 at a rate of $20.92 an hour, an increase from $20.28 an hour.
• Approved a lone bid of $17,800 from Patrick Frank of Palmerton on tax parcel No. 42A-49-J54.03, a 0.26 acre parcel of Princeton Avenue in Palmerton. No bids were received on a tax parcel No. 42A-49-J54.04, a 0.09 acre parcel on Princeton Avenue.
