Walnutport Borough Council conducted the following business Thursday:

• Approved a storm piping change order for the Lock 23 retaining wall in the amount of $10,384.

• Agreed to purchase a new gas tank up to $2,000.

• The borough has three openings on the UCC Appeal Board, openings on the recreation board, and one opening on the vacancy board.

• An E-recycling event shredding will be held Sept. 18 at the borough municipal building.

• The Walnutport Canal Festival will be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Oct. 19-20.

• Trick-or-treat will be held in the borough on Oct. 30, rain or shine.

• The Christmas tree Lighting event will be held Dec. 7, with food trucks at 2 p.m., candy cane hunt at 3 p.m. and tree lighting at 5 p.m.
