Man threatens to harm woman, child

A Palmerton man has been accused of threatening to harm a woman and young child.

According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by Trooper Justin Magluilo of the Pennsylvania State Police, Lehighton barracks, in the case against Daniel Behler:

At 7:59 p.m. June 18, the victim was visiting her father and Behler, 44, at a home in the 400 block of Centre Street in Parryville.

During this time, the victim was holding a 2-year-old girl, outside of the residence.

Police said Behler was irate and acting out in a fit of rage over the whereabouts of his wallet and approached the victims with a knife while threatening to slit everyone’s throat if his wallet did not appear.

The victim described the knife as having what appeared to be red paint on it.

The victim said she was in fear for her life and safety, as well as the life and safety of the 2-year-old.

The woman and the 2-year-old went to a safe location and were not harmed.

Behler faces charges on two counts each of terroristic threats, simple assault and harassment, along with one count of endangering welfare of children.

Behler is currently incarcerated in the Carbon County Correctional Facility in lieu of $10,000 straight bail, and scheduled to have a preliminary hearing July 3 before District Judge William J. Kissner of Palmerton.
